
Mrs. Ruth McKee Ferguson, age 90, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Four Oaks Healthcare Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Ferguson was born in Jonesborough, Tennessee on August 25, 1934, to the late Clifford & Pearl Hensley McKee. She was raised in an old log home and worked on a farm with her family until she married and opened the hamburger stand in Jonesborough.
Ruth attended New Victory Baptist Church and was the oldest member.
She retired from Levi Strauss. Her hobbies were cooking, canning, camping and spending time with her family. She was a five-generation grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Sumner “Mousey” Ferguson, brother, Earnest McKee, sister-in-law, Jetta Constable McKee, daughter-in-law, Marlene Ferguson, and a nephew, David Russell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Ferguson, Jonesborough; brother, Bud McKee and a sister, Ruby Russell; grandchildren, Deana Dugger and husband Michael, and Loren Ferguson and wife, Mindy; great grandchildren, Cortney Dugger, Jereth Dugger, Elizabeth Ferguson; great-great grandson, Alexander Nelson; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Mt. Wesley Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Dykes officiating.
The pallbearers will be Michael Dugger, Jereth Dugger, Mike McKee, Steve Russell, and Paul Cox. The honorary pallbearer will be David Russell.
