Mrs. Retha Colleen Buchanan, age 95, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at The Waters of Johnson City.
Mrs. Buchanan was born June 18, 1929, in Ashe County, NC, to the late Ora Eli & Donna Sullivan Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hale William Buchanan, two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Buchanan graduated from Rowan Memorial Hospital in Salisbury, NC as a Registered Nurse. She retired from James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after 41 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Inger Blanton, Jonesborough; granddaughter, Molly Blanton Carden (Cody), Johnson City; sister, Jeanette Barker, Warrensville, NC; brother, Boyd Jones, West Jefferson, NC; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Josh Grizzle officiating.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. Mrs. Colleen was a wonderful lady. I have so many sweet memories of her and Mr. Buchanan. They were like family to us. Hugs and prayers to everyone.
